Early Adaptation Program for Foreign Nationals in Korea

For foreigners looking to stay in Korea long-term, the Ministry of Justice has established the Early Adaptation Program to help them settle into Korean society smoothly. 1. Mandatory Participants

Foreign nationals in the following categories are required to participate in this program:

  • Foreign nationals with H-2 (Working Visit) visa status
  • Performers holding E-6-2 (Entertainment) visa status

Please note that individuals in these categories must present a certificate of completion when registering for foreigner residency or changing their visa status.

2. Voluntary Participants

Foreign nationals in the following categories can choose to participate voluntarily:

  • Marriage migrants
  • International students
  • Foreign workers, including seasonal workers
  • Youth entering Korea mid-term (ages 9 to 24)
  • Long-term foreign residents living in densely populated areas (where the foreign population exceeds 7,000, regardless of visa status)

3. Curriculum of the Early Adaptation Program

The program consists of three hours of training:

  • Core Topics (2 hours): Essential information and basic education on laws and systems necessary for life in Korea.
  • Specialized Topics (1 hour): Customized training based on residence type.

Tailored educational sessions are available to address specific needs, including:

  • Overseas Koreans: Settling into Korean society

4. Application Process and Required Documents

Foreign nationals wishing to join the Early Adaptation Program should prepare their passport and, if applicable, their alien registration card before applying. Don’t forget that the certificate of completion you receive after attending the program must be submitted when applying for a visa or registering as a foreign resident.

5. Content of the Early Adaptation Program
